September 29, 2007 At 0253 hours units from the 3rd Batt. were alerted for an overturned vehicle with people trapped at Suitland Parkway and Silver Hill Road. Engine 294 and Squad 27 arrived on scene of the accident with a four vehicle accident. With no one trapped units assisted with EMS packaging. Crew: (D/O) Lt. Johnson, (O) Lt. Gale, Firefighter Rice, Firefighter Trejos, and Firefighter Hunt.
MSeptember 28, 2007 At 0129 hours Squad 27 was alerted for a vehicle accident with people trapped at the Outer Loop of Beltway @ Ritchie Marlboro Road. Squad 27 arrived on scene. Under the leadership of Capt. J Lyon and six personnel, the squad went to work removing the passenger side doors and the roof. The squad extricated the victim and pass him off to EMS Personnel standing by. Crew: (D/O) Firefighter Leonard, (O) Capt. Lyon, Lt. Johnson, Firefighter Tupe, Firefighter Regan, Firefighter Trejos, Firefighter Dowling.
MEngine 271's crew received the RESCUE OF THE YEAR AWARD!!!!! The Calvin Lee "Cowboy" Corder Rescue of the Year award sponsored by Kentland VFD (Company 33) was awarded to members on Engine 271 for the rescue on Keating Place. The crew consisted of : Chief M. White, (D/O) Firefighter Trader, (O) Lt. Johnson, Firefighter Dowling, Firefighter Sudjupan, and Firefighter MacDowney.
September 21, 2007 At 2200 hours Squad 27 was alerted to a vehicle accident with one overturned and a pedestrian struck. Batt. Chief 803 arrived on scene with one still in the vehicle. Squad 27 arrived on scene and was directed to pop the driver side door so that county police could remove the driver.
September 21, 2007 At 1820 hours Squad 27 was alerted with other units in the 3rd and 1st Batt. for a building fire at 5454 Marlboro Pike. Chief 26A arrived on scene with light smoke in the building. After further investigation, Chief 26A held Engine companies 26, 8, and Truck 17 for a furnace fire which was contained by the sprinkler. Crew: (D/O) Lt. Hansen, (O) Lt. Johnson, Firefighter Rice, Firefighter Ormerod, and Firefighter Trader.
September 20, 2007 At 0334 hours Squad 27 was alerted as third due special service to 9717 Old Fort Road for a vacant house on fire. Engine 471 arrived on scene with a fully involved house. Command Batt. Chief 805 held Engine Companies 47, 21 and Truck 32. Crew: (D/O) Firefighter Girven, (O) Capt. J. McKleevn, Firefighter Leonard, and Firefighter Dowling.
September 19, 2007 At 1843 hours Squad 27 was alerted to 7818 Barrett Road East (Company 21's First Due) for a house on fire. Engine 212 arrived on scene with a working fire. Units were held for 2 hours.
September 19, 2007 In the early morning hours, Engine 471 was alerted for an automatic alarm sounding at 13600 King Charles Terrance. Engine 471 arrived on scene with fire thru the roof requesting the box. The second alarm was sounded bringing Chief 27 and Engine 272 as second due engine on the second. Engine 272 arrived on scene first on the second alarm and advance a two inch attack into the fire building assisting with knocking the bulk of the fire in the roof. Crew: (D/O) Capt. September 15, 2007 After clearing a first due 9I, Squad 27 and Chief 27A were alerted to 911 Comanche Drive (42 First Due) for a house on fire. Engine Company 42 arrived on scene with fire showing from a second story window on side Alpha. Squad 27 arrived on scene and conducted a primary and second search of 913 Comanche. Units were held for 1 1/2 hours. Crew: (D/O) Lt. Johnson, (O) Lt. Gale, Firefighter Rice, and Firefighter Sudjpan.
September 13, 2007 At 0938 hours Squad 27 and Chief 27A were alerted to a reported house fire in Company 32's Area. Engine 321 arrived on scene at 2210 Piermont Street with a bedroom off. Squad 27 conducted a primary and second search with negative results. Crew: (D/O) Dunn, (OIC) Lt. Teague, Firefighter Ormerod, and Firefighter Butts.
September 13, 2007 At 0344 hours E272 was alerted for an auto fire in the area of 5300 Carswell Ave. E272 arrived on scene with the interior of the vehicle fully involved. County Police and County Fire Investigator were alerted for a possible vandalism. Crew: (D/O) Trader, (OIC) Lt. Johnson, Firefighter Martin, Firefighter Butts, Firefighter Trejos, and Firefighter Nellis.

September 9, 2007 At 1004 hours Squad 27 was alerted with other units for a vehicle accident on the Inner Loop @ St. Barnabas Road with one ejected. Squad 27 arrived on scene and assisted with patient packaging. Crew: (D/O) Firefighter Poole, (OIC) Lt. Gale, Firefighter Nellis, Firefighter Trejos, Firefighter Rice, Firefighter Ormerod, Firefighter Keefer, and Firefighter Dunn.
September 8, 2007 At 0732 hours, Squad 27 was dispatched along with units from the 3rd and 5th batt. for a vehicle accident at the Beltway @ St. Barnabas Road. Units arrived on scene with to find one trapped. Crew removed patient by taking both doors on driver side, removed the roof, and the B-post. Crew: (D/O) Firefighter Trader, (OIC) Lt. Gale, Firefighter Butts, and Firefighter Rice.
September 7, 2007 While returning from Co. 25 area with the Squad, Lt. Gale notice a large bright blue light in the sky towards D.C. Moments later, Communication alerted the Squad to return for the engine for wires down on Suitland Road @ Regency Parkway. Engine 272 arrived on scene with five (5) transformers on fire and black smoke coming from two (2) manholes requesting the box assignment. Units were held on the assignment for 2 hours. Crew: (D/O) Lt. Johnson, (OIC) Lt. Gale, Firefighter Nellis, Firefighter Rice, Firefighter Campbell, and Firefighter Sing.

Squad 27 arrived stabilized vehicle and extricated Two victim's using the Hurst Spreaders, Extractor, Sawzall to remove the roof and doors.
Members from Morningside supported the Prince George's County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Softball Tournament. We made it to day two with a record of 2-2. We defeated Clinton and Marlboro.

24 August 2007 At 0711 hours E271 was alerted for a report of an apartment fire with people trapped at 5609 Regency Park Court. E271 arrived on scene with smoke showing from side "A". E271 advance the 2 1/2 inch attack line to the apartment. Units were held for 1 hour. Crew: (D/O) Firefighter Trader, (O) A/Lt. Teague, and Lt. Gale
23 August 2007 Squad 27 , E233, and E371 were alerted in the early morning hours for an accident on the Beltway south of Penn. Ave. Communications advised that they were getting several calls of a vehicle on fire with one trapped. Squad 27 arrived on scene with a vehicle engine and front compartment off. Squad 27 deployed several fire extinguishers but was overcome with the volume of fire. E371 arrived on scene extinguishing the vehicle. A search was conducted of the vehicle and the area around the beltway with no patient found. Crew: (D/O) Lt. Johnson, Capt. J. Mckleevn, Firefighter Nellis, Firefighter Trejos, Firefighter Leonard, and Firefighter Dowling.
@ 21 August 2007 Just After 3 o'clock p.m. Chief 27A and the Squad were alerted to 1122 Wentworth Drive (Company's 21 area) for fire coming from the house. E211 arrived on scene with smoke and fire coming from side Charlie with a back bedroom off. Squad 27 along with Truck 32 conducted a primary and secondary search with negative results. E211 made an aggressive interior attack lead by Lt. E. McKay which Fireman Lacey located a cat in the front room. Crew: (D/O) Firefighter Leonard, (O) Lt. The cat was placed on oxygen and is doing well. 2 21 August 2007 At 0355 hours Squad 27 and A279 were alerted in the first due for a vehicle into a light pole in the 5900 Blk of Allentown Road. Both units arrival on scene with one trapped. Squad 27 removed the all doors and the roof to free the patient. Crew: (D/O) Hedrick, (O) Lt. Gale, Firefighter Nellis, Firefighter Girven, Firefighter Trader, and Firefighter Butts.

20 August 2007 At 2127 hours Squad27 and A279 were alerted for a vehicle accident at Branch Ave. @ Auth Road. BC 3 arrived on scene with command and held all units. Squad 27 removed the driver side door due to the condition of the patient. Crew: (D/O) Girven, (O) Lt. Johnson, Firefighter Nellis, Firefighter Ormerod, and Firefighter Trader.

1818 August 2007 After an early morning accident, Squad 27 was alerted for a removal, at the outerloop of the beltway @ St. Barnabas Road for a vehicle which was off the roadway, on fire, and with one trapped. 12 August 2007 At 1558 hours Engine 271 was alerted for a first due house fire at 4716 John Street (Skyline Community). Engine 271 arrived on scene with smoke showing from the attic and side Charlie. Engine 271 advance the attack line inside on side alpha. Units from the first, third, and fifth battalion assisted with bring the fire under control. Crew: (D/O) Lt. 12 August 2007 At 0952 hours Units from 23, 26, 37, and Squad 27 were alerted for vehicle accident on the Outer Loop of the beltway @ Penn. Avenue for a vehicle that went off the road into the ditch. Squad 27 arrived on scene at the on ramp to southbound 495 from Suitland Road. With Battalion Chief 3 in command, Squad 27 removed the passenger side front door to gain access to the passenger. 10 August 2007 Rescue Engine 33 transferred to the 3rd once again! While units were on 17's first due house fire (3904 Byers Street). At
10 August 2007 Units from the 1st and 3rd battalion were alerted to 3904 Byers Street for a house on fire at 1738 hours. Squad 27 arrived on scene and assumed the Rapid Intervention Crew duties. Engine Company 5 and 29 work together extinguishing the fire located in a bedroom closet. Command held Companies 5, 29, and Truck 26. Crew: D/O Lt. 8 August 2007 At 1928 hours E291 was alerted for a brush in the area of 5806 Suitland being that the Squad was on the air out of position. E291 and BC 3 arrived on scene and requested the Hazmat box for smoke coming from the electric substation building. Due to the county's hazmat team on an incident up north, Command (Batt. 3) requested DC Fire Hazardous Materials Team for assistance. Squad 27 and other units arrived on scene and stage until Pepco personnel arrived to investigate the smoke. Units were held for approx. 2 hours until Pepco advised that fire department units were no longer need. Crew: (O) Lt. Gale, (D/O) Lt. Johnson, Capt. J. 5 August 2007 Units from the 3rd, 5th, and the 7th Battalion were alerted around 0304 hours for a Hazmat Box. Units responded to Crain Hwy @ Chew Road (BP Gas Station) for vehicle into a fuel pump on fire. Engine 271 arrived on scene third and staged on side alpha. Company 20 and 45 extinguished the fire by cutting off the fuel to the pump. Engine 271 was released at 0322 hours holding Engine companies 45, 20, and Tower Ladder 43. Crew: Chief 27A White, D/O Trader, (O) Lt. Johnson, Firefighter Rice, Firefighter Dowling, and Firefighter McDowney.
4 August 2007 While cleaning up from the Metro Incident, citizens notified us of an auto fire in the Metro Parking lot, on the second level. E291, still on scene, deployed an attack line and extinguished the fire. SQ27 assisted E29 with deployment of the attack line.
4 August 2007 At 1351 hours Squad 27 was alerted with Engine 29 to the Southern Ave. Metro Station for a person who was hit and trapped underneath a train. Units arrived on the scene with the victim still under the train. Units worked together removing the victim.

4 August 2007 At 0913 hours Chief 27, Chief 27A, and Engine 271 were alerted for smoke and flames coming from a townhome at 2736 Keating Street (29's First Due). Engine 29 arrived on scene with smoke and fire coming from side Charlie (the kitchen area). Engine 271 arrived on scene and was directed by command to advance a secondary line above the fire to the second floor. Engine 291, led by Lt. J. Chandler, advanced their attack line to the kitchen extinguishing the fire. Engine 271's crew, led by Lt. Johnson, located a victim in a second floor bedroom while conducting a primary search. Firefighter McDowney, Firefighter Dowling, and Firefighter Sudjapun assist with taking the victim to the first floor side Alpha. Captain Williams (TW21) and crew assisted with removing the victim from the structure to the awaiting EMS units. The patient was transported. Crew: D/O Trader, (O) Lt. Johnson, F/F C. McDowney, F/F Sudjapun, and F/F Dowling.
3 August 2007 At 0329 Hours Chief 27, Chief 27A, and E271 were alerted to 5947 Fisher Road (21 Oxon Hill First Due) for smoke in the building with the calling party stating that she pulled the alarm but it did not sound. Communication advised units responding that the calling party was knocking on all doors to get the residents out. Engine 212 arrived on scene with nothing showing. After further investigation, Engine 212 advised they had a fire in the storage room and they were trying to get to it. Engine 271 laid out the 4" supply from 29 Engine (secondary water supply) to side Charlie. Command (Batt. Chief 5) held 21, 42, and Truck 32. Engine 271, Truck 25, and Ambulance 238 were transferred to Company 21 for an hour.

3 August 2007 Just after midnight, Chief 27, Squad 27, and Ambulance 279 were alerted to a vehicle accident on the Inner Loop of the Beltway north of Branch Avenue involving a motorcycle. Communication advised units responding that further updated information stated the operator of the motorcycle had both leg removed. Public communication had received several calls for this accident on the Inner Loop from Branch Ave. to Indian Head Highway bring Engine companies 29, 37, 21, and 42. Chief 27 arrived on the scene with a corrected location requesting a helicopter. Chief 21 assumed the Beltway command. The motorcyclist was transported by Trooper 2 to a local hospital. Crew: Chief Hendley, D/O Lt. Johnson, Lt. Gale, Fireman Rice, Fireman Harris, and Fireman McDowell.
2 August 2007 At 1703 hours Chief 27 and the Squad were alerted for a vehicle overturned into a house at 2005 Owens Road (Company's 42 First due) with 3 people trapped. Chief 27 arrived on scene with the Owens Road command and advised he had structural damage requesting a building inspector and with no one trapped holding all units. The Squad was assigned utilities duties.
2 August 2007 Shortly after returning to quarters with the Squad , E271 was alerted for a vehicle fire to the rear of 6407 Suitland Road (Andrews Carryout). E271 arrived on scene with a pickup truck that had hit a telephone pole and that was on fire. The driver was not inside of the vehicle.
2 August 2007 At 0107 hours Squad 27 was dispatched along with E292 and Battalion Chief 3 to 6007 St. Mortiz Drive (29's first due) for a car into the apartment building. E292's officer (Lt. Chandler) arrived on the scene with a vehicle into the building. The vehicle had struck the 1st floor apartment and a gas line feeding into apartment. Squad 27 arrived on scene and assisted company 29 with evacuating the residents from the building. Washington Gas arrived and units were placed in service.
1 August 2007 At 1332 hours Squad 27 was dispatched with other units for a house fire at 4357 Southern Ave in station 17's first due. E171 arrived on scene with fire showing from the second floor of a vacant house. Squad 27 arrived on scene with six personnel and conducted a primary search on the fire floor. Squad 27 was held for 1 1/2 hours to assist with overhaul and hot spots.

Capt. Pickett after another fire!!!! 30 July 2007 While clearing a box assignment in Company 25's (Clinton) area. Truck 32 (Allentown Road) came across an auto accident with people trapped requesting the full assignment in the 9100 Piscataway Road. Engine 271 in was in the area and requested to assist. Engine 271 assisted with removal of the patients and also the landing site for Trooper 2.
