At 1523 hours, the engine was alerted with other units for fire coming from the roof at 7210 Allentown Road (32's first due).  Engine 32 and Batt. 5 (Lamoria) arrived on scene with heavy fire and smoke.  The engine (27) arrived on scene and picked up Clinton's 5" LDH.  The engine crew was assigned truck duties, which made Capt. Lyon day (old member from 33).  Units were held for 3 hours.

Racket Ball Building Fire

At 1117 hours, the engine was alerted with other units to 6005 Oxon Hill Road (The PetSmart in 42's first due) for a building fire.  Units arrived on scene with smoke showing.  The engine arrived on scene and advanced their 2 1/2" leader line as a back line to side Alpha.  Under the command of Capt. Beck, the crew rescued several distressed animals from the building.  The engine was held for 1 hour and 45 minutes.

At 0300 hours, the engine was alerted with other units for a house fire in the 6600 block of Edgemere Drive (32's first due).  Engine 27 and 32 both arrived at the same time with a single family dwelling with heavy fire showing on both floors at 6610 Edgemere Drive.  The engine crew pulled a 2 1/2"  250'  and  1 3/4" 200 attack lines for the exterior operation.  The fire was placed under control in 45 minutes.  The engine was held for 2 hours.

January 28, 2008

At 1316 hours, the engine was alerted for a house fire at 2212 Old Fort Hills Drive (32's first due).  Engine 32 arrived on scene with fire showing from side Alpha and Bravo.  Engine 272 arrived on scene 4th due engine company and staged.  The engine was held for 20 minutes.

January 27, 2008

At 1140 hours, a hazmat box was dispatched for people sick and a black substance coming from the vent at 3830 Regency Parkway.  Engine 271 arrived on scene and started monitoring the calling parties building.  During monitoring, Engine 271 and Truck 17 received readings of 60ppm to 150 ppm from the CO monitors.  The building was evacuated for further monitoring.  Batt. Chief 3 (Tharp) assumed command, requesting additional equipment, so units could  check buildings 3832, 3834, and 3836.  Seventy occupants blood gas levels were check, with 7 people being transported to the local hospitals.  After investigating , the CO leak was coming from the boiler which supplied the six buildings.  Units operated for 2 hours.

January 27, 2008

After going in-service from the Walters Lane box,  A box was dispatched in company 20's area for a reported house fire.  Engine 271 in company 23's area, requested to run the box.  The engine arrived on scene in the third due engine company position.  Engine 203 arrived on scene with a barn fully involved about 2 miles of the road.  Being a non-hydrant area, Command (Chief 25) requested tanks from Forestville and Anne Arundel County (Tanker 9).  Brush units from Dunkirk and Deale assisted with operations as well.  The engine was held unit for 3 1/2 hours.

At 2359 hours, the engine was alerted for an apartment fire at 3329 Walters Lane.  Engine 26 arrived on scene with smoke showing.  Engine 271 picked up engine 231 dual lines.  The engine crew advanced a second line above the fire apartment.  The engine was held for 30 minutes.

After being alerted for a transfer to company 808 at 0601 hours, the Rescue Squad was dispatched for a vehicle overturned with one trapped in the water.  The squad arrived on scene with Engine 818, with one over the bridge, and trapped.  The patient was extricated within 20 minutes.

January 18, 2008

At 1701 hours, the engine was alerted for a building on fire in the 4500 Silver Hill Road.  Engine 829 and Batt. 803 arrived on scene with smoke showing.  The engine picked up Engine 829's line while advancing a backup attack line.  With a set plan from both officers, both crews advanced their attack lines to the rear of the building knocking the fire.  The engine was held for 2 hours.

At 1522 hours, the rescue squad was dispatched with several units to the outer loop @ St. Barnabas Road for a tractor-trailer on its side.  The beltway command was established for one trapped inside the vehicle.  The rescue squad arrived on scene stabilizing the tractor and removed the driver. 

Crew: (D/O) Lt. Johnson, Capt. Lyon, Firefighter Trejos, Firefighter Leonard, and Firefighter Dawkins.

Beltway Command: 842A (Armstrong), Extrication Sector: Chief 827 (Hendley), and Safety Sector: Capt. 842 (Ellie).

At 1421 hours, the rescue squad was alerted with other units for a vehicle accident at Suitland Parkway @ Branch Ave.  The rescue squad arrived on scene and assisted with ems.

At 1735 hours, the engine was alerted with other units for fire coming for a house at 9509 Temple Hills Road (825's area).  The engine arrived on scene and assumed the third due engine company assignment.  The engine was held for thirty minutes.

At 2055 hours, the engine was alerted 2031 Brooks Drive (826's area) for the second alarm building fire.  The engine arrived on scene as the first unit on second alarm and assumed the staging sector.  First alarm units had a small kitchen fire.  The engine was held for twenty minutes.

At 1405 hours, the engine was alerted for a house fire at 4101 Ritchie-Marlboro Road (837's area).  The engine arrived on scene and assisted with exterior operations.  The engine was held for 2 1/2 hours.

While transporting a patient to Southern Maryland Hospital,  Ambo 827 came across a school fire at 7000 Allentown Road.  Units arrived on scene with black smoke showing.  The engine crew with two personnel assigned engine company 832 with interior attack.  Units were held two hours.

At 2358 hours, the engine was alerted with other units for a reported house fire at 7201 Leona Street (823's area).  The engine arrived on scene third due and was given the task of second due engine company operations.  The units were held for two hours.

January 5, 2008

At 1456 hours, the engine was alerted with other units for an apartment fire at 5908 St. Mortiz Drive (829's area).  In the area was Engine 825B and Engine 826  who arrived on scene with heavy fire on side Alpha.  Engine 827 arrived on scene 5th due and assisted with smoke removal.  Units were held for two hours.

JJanuary 3, 2008

After clearing a vehicle accident, the Rescue Squad and Ambulance were alerted to Station 827 for a child trapped in a school desk.  Squad 827, under direction of Capt. Pinkett, removed the child from the desk using one of the many tools on the Rescue Squad.

At 0033 hours, the rescue squad and ambulance were alerted for a vehicle overturned on Branch Ave. @ Allentown Road.  The rescue squad arrived on scene with the patient out walking around after being hit by a truck.

Dispatched: Engine 825, Rescue Squad 827, Ambulance 827, Medic 825, and Battalion Chief 803.

January 1, 2008

While responding on a medical local, Engine 271 was involved in a property damage accident.  A motorist moving equipment on his pick-up was traveling down Silver Hill Road.  When some equipment was blown from the pick-up truck across Silver Hill Road striking Engine 271 front bumper and air horn.  After 45 minutes, Engine 271 returned to service for another busy day to come.

At 0439 hours, communication alerted the engine for a vehicle on fire next to a building at 5625 Regency Park Court.  The engine arrived on scene holding it's self for 30 minutes.

January 1, 2008

With the start of the new year, the members of Morningside got alerted for the first box alarm bring units from the third to 3838 Regency Parkway with fire coming from the balcony below.  Engine 27 arrived on scene with nothing showing.  After further investigation, Lt. Gale found a small fire on the balcony of apartment 202.  Units were held for 30 minutes. 

Dispatched:  Engine 827, 817, 829, 823, 837, Truck 805, Tower Ladder 821, and Truck 822.
