Membership Recognition

Charlie Phillips - Currently serves as the President, Chairman of the Board of Directors, as well as an active firefighter with the Department. Charlie started as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Department in 1949. He has held all Line Officer positions as well as being Chief of Department for from 1962 until 1964.  Charlie started out as a paid firefighter with the Department before getting hired by the Prince George's County Fire Department in 1967, where he served for some thirty years, he retired in 1993 as Fire Technician from Company 22. He then returned to where it all started - Morningside Volunteer Fire Department. Charlie is an inductee of HALL OF FAME to the Prince George's County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association and Morningside VFD.  Charlie is a well liked and loved individual and his knowledge and love for the fire service is still carried on today, and instilled in other members of this Department.

 

 

   Leslie Hedrick - Currently serves as an active firefighter with the Department for the last 43 years, as well as member of the Board of Directors. Les holds the record and respect of the membership for the longest standing Fire Chief of the Department with 19 Years. Les is a inductee in the HALL OF FAME to the Morningside VFD and the Prince George's Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association. Les has set the standard for emergency operations and built the Department reputation that it has as one of the top leading Rescue Squads in Prince George's County. His leadership and making the members of this Department a family has carried over  to where we are today.
