MORNINGSIDE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT AND RESCUE SQUAD HISTORY

In 1962 the Department purchased a new 1250 gallons per minute GMC Bruco pumper.

In 1964 a decision was made to replace the 1954 GMC squad truck with and a new larger 1964 GMC Bruco squad truck was purchased.

The Department purchased a second 1250 gallons per minute GMC Bruco Pumper in 1965.

The 1964 squad was replaced by the Prince George's County Fire Department with a 1979 Freightliner chassis and the Bruco body was placed on the Freightliner chassis.

In 1980, the PGFD placed a 1980 Ford 750 gallons per minute county-owned pumper in service at Morningside VFD for use by both the career personnel and the volunteers.

In 1987 a new American Eagle body was placed on the Freightliner chassis.
The PGFD added a second pumper in 1990 with the purchase of a Seagrave 1250 gallon per minute county owned pumper.
In 1995, MVFD purchased "The Pride of Morningside" - Engine 271, a Pierce Lance 1250 gallons per minute pumper.

Also in 1995, the PGFD replaced the 1979 Rescue Squad with a new 1995 HME Saulsbury Heavy-Duty Rescue Squad.
